University of New Haven President
Steven H. Kaplan.
Celebrate President Kaplan's Impact on the West Haven Community
Under the leadership of President Steven H. Kaplan, Ph.D., the University of New Haven has reached extraordinary new heights, creating opportunities for generations of students and helping to revitalize the City’s Allingtown neighborhood. Since becoming the University’s sixth president in 2004, he's increased enrollment by more than 60 percent, bringing thousands of visitors to the West Haven area each year.
Over the last decade, the University has completed $300 million in new construction projects, including the David A. Beckerman Recreation Center; Gehring Hall, home of the world-renowned Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science; and Celentano Hall, our largest student residence that is named in honor of well-known West Haven businessman Joseph E. “Chick” Celentano. The University has also worked closed with the City of West Haven and local partners on the continued development of University Commons, a private mixed-used development steps from campus that is helping to create a vibrant college town atmosphere in the area surrounding campus. In 2020, in honor of the University’s Centennial, the University will officially dedicate the Bergami Center for Science Technology, and Innovation, a state-of-the-art art educational facility that will be among the most impressive in the country.
Join us to celebrate President Kaplan’s vision and the far-reaching impact the University’s continued growth and transformation has had on the City of West Haven.
